Golf and Chiropractic | A great combination

Updated: Feb 26, 2020

Golf is a great sport and a great form of exercise, especially when you forget the golf cart. However, golf is pretty rough on the spine and can lead to back problems. Long drives are impressive when watching the sport, but have you watched the golfer during their swing? Have you noticed how much rotation the golfer puts on their spine? This is where the problems can occur. Regular chiropractic care is proven to keep the spine of a golfer, and any non-golfer, aligned but can even boost performance. Whether that performance is golf or a different sport of your choosing.

Most people don't know, but most elite athletes use chiropractic care in conjunction with their sports athletic training to better their performance on the field and stay healthy off the field.

"Being a chiropractic patient has really helped me immensely...lifting weights and seeing a Chiropractor on a regular basis has made me a better golfer. I've been going to chiropractors for as long as I can remember. It's as important to my training as practicing my swing." -Tiger Woods

Simply put, chiropractic works. Chiropractic restores function to spinal joints and extremities that are fixated and not moving properly. In order to have peak performance, an athlete's joints rely on the muscles, ligaments, and tendons. When the joint is misaligned it causes unnecessary pressure and stress on the muscles, ligaments, tendons, and nerves. This causes reduced range of motion, muscle weakness, and decreased action time for the muscles to work. If a golfer were to have any one of those, it would take him/her out of the game. They wouldn't be able to swing the club properly or efficiently to drive the ball long distances. Regular chiropractic care keeps the spine aligned and allows the body to have proper posture on and off the golf course. Everyone always says proper posture is key to health, but what about a golfer's swing? Wait, posture can help the swing of a golfer? YES!!! If your posture is out of alignment then your swing will be out of alignment as well. Dr. Mitch, a fellow DC, said "Professional and amateur golfers seek regular chiropractic adjustments to avoid injuries and to maintain that perfect golf swing they have worked so hard to achieve." Golfers work A LOT on their swing. Why would they want to lose that perfected swing or injure themselves playing the sport they love so much? They don't! They see their chiropractor regularly to keep the spine aligned so they have optimal posture. Better range of motion, increased balance, and improved muscle firing are just a few benefits of seeing a chiropractor. Call for an appointment today if you want to better your golf game!
